He was very simple and godly. He said that if the work done by me is good, then God will take care of it automatically. If it is bad then we don't have to drive.
Govind-Bhavan-Office, Kolkata
This is the Head Office of the Society which is a Registered Society. Sethji used to go to Kolkata for business and used to get satsang done there. Sethji and Satsang remained synonymous for life. Satsang would start whenever Sethji or satsangis got the time. Many times satsang lovers from Kolkata would come to Kharagpur in the night and Sethji would come from Chakradharpur to Kharagpur which was in the middle of both the cities. There would be satsang all night near the station, in the morning everyone would return to their respective places. There was neither a platform nor publicity for satsang like today. In Kolkata, satsang used to be held on the cushions of the shop. The number of Satsangi brothers started increasing day by day. Space was limited in the cushions of the shop. The search for a great place began. At first, the site near the fort was chosen behind the Eden Gardens of Kolkata, but satsang could not be held there properly. again Around 1920, a warehouse belonging to the Birla family was rented out in Kolkata's Bansatla street and it was named Govind Bhavan (House of the Lord). At present, there is a grand building on Mahatma Gandhi Road by the name of 'Govind-Bhawan' where Bhajan-Kirtan is played regularly and there is arrangement for discourses by Saints-Mahatmas from time to time. Along with the wholesale and retail sale of books, hand-made garments, glass bangles, Ayurvedic medicines, etc. are being sold at reasonable prices.
Geetapress-Gorakhpur
Due to the influence of Shri Sethji's satsang in Kolkata, the group of seekers grew and everyone needed Gitaji for self-study, but Gita of pure text and correct meaning was not being accessible. In order to get such a Gita easily, Sethji himself prepared the passage, the meaning and the brief commentary and got five thousand copies printed on behalf of Govind Bhavan from the Vanik Press of Kolkata. This first edition ended very quickly. The next edition of six thousand copies was reprinted from the same Vanik Press. A total of eleven thousand copies were printed in Kolkata. But there were many difficulties in this printing. Neither could they make necessary amendments in the books, nor did they get proper facilities for revision. The machine had to be repeatedly stopped and amended. Even after making such efforts, there could not be a complete absence of mistakes. Then the owner of the press, who was himself a Satsangi of Sethji, He told Sethji – It is not favorable for a businessman to improve by stopping the machine again and again like this. It is possible to print any pure book you want in your own private press. Sethji used to say that in our books, to leave a mistake in Gitaji is to inflict a wound with a knife and to rectify it is to put a bandage on the wound. The one who is our lover should try his best to rectify the inaccuracies in the books. Sethji thought that there should be a separate press of its own, so that the Gita lovers can get the pure text and the correct meaning of the Gita. For this, a press took a small house in Gorakhpur on rent of about 10 rupees for Vaishakh Shukla 13, Sunday, V.No. Press was established in Gorakhpur in 1980 (23 April 1923 AD), It was named GitaPress. It made great convenience in the printing and publication of Gitaji. Apart from various small and big editions of Gitaji, some other books of Shri Sethji also started getting published. Shri Jaydayalji Goyandka has the credit of providing pure printed Gita, Kalyan, Bhagwat, Mahabharata, Ramcharitmanas and other religious texts to the public at cheap prices from GitaPress. Gita Press is not only a press for publishing books, but from being a place of propagation of Gita etc., emanating from the voice of God, it is converted into a holy place. God himself has declared it in the scriptures that I never leave the place where my name is remembered, preached, bhajan-kirtan etc. The credit of making Ramcharitmanas and other religious texts accessible to the public at affordable prices goes to Shri Jaydayalji Goyandka. Geeta Bhavan, Swargashram Rishikesh
Along with the propagation of Gita, Sethji used to do satsang for the attainment of God. He felt the need of a peaceful place where there is no noise, there is a holy land, the necessary material is available for worship. For the fulfillment of this need, Sethji came to the holy land of Uttarakhand to conduct satsang around the year 1918. There, the banyan tree on the banks of Bhagwati Ganga across the Ganges and the place of the present Gita Bhavan, Sethji found it very peaceful. It is said that Swami Ramtirth also did penance at the place of banyan tree. What was then, from about the year 1925, Sethji started living there with his satsangis for about 3 months every summer-season every year. Bhagwat-discussion with people at all times except for the time of food, sandhya-vandan etc. from 4 in the morning to 10 in the night, Bhajan-Kirtan etc. continued. Gradually pucca houses started being built for the satsangi brothers to live. Today, by the grace of God, many well organized and grand buildings have been built, which have more than 1,000 rooms and have separate places for satsang, bhajan-kirtan. Which have been free for the satsangis since the beginning. People come here and do satsang and contemplation of God while sitting in the beautiful environment of Gangaji. This is the land where every year many brothers and sisters have become free from life by living in the company of Sethji. The joy that comes upon coming here is inexplicable. There is no inconvenience to those who come here; Because free accommodation and food and ration, utensils, etc. essential materials are available at reasonable prices. There are fees. Jaydayalji Goyandka was very concerned about purity. They did not use anything obtained from violence. Used and advised to use Ayurvedic medicines only. For the manufacture of pure Ayurvedic medicines, first arrangements were made again in Gita Bhavan in Kolkata so that the medicines made from fresh herbs of Himalaya and Gangajal could be accessible to the general public.
