Jagdish Shettigar is Professor and Adviser, Birla Institute of Management Technology, and former member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council during the previous NDA government.
Doctorate in Economics from IIT-Delhi with professional experience spreading over four and a half decades in varied fields such as teaching, research, industry and governmental policy making process. Capability to apply theoretical concepts to resolve problems at ground level. Skill in striking a fine balance between logic behind theory and limitations in terms of necessity of effective communication with the targeted sections. Regular updating of developments at domestic and global business environment and analytical ability to understand impact of the same on different stakeholders.
Strength in terms of governmental economic policies, policy initiatives by different regulators such as monetary authority, market regulators, competition commission etc. Keen observer of developments in sensitive segment of the economy and its impact on organized sector as well as overall economy and also relationship between external factors on Indian economy especially in terms of fluctuations in capital markets, flow of foreign investment and rates of exchange and in turn trade balance.
