bhArata sAvitri is a khila or supplement to the Mahabharata and Harivamsha. This is an annexure of harivaMsham, which itself is an annexure of mahAbhArata. All these put together will be called bhArata saMhita.
This was published by Chitrashala, Mumbai, in 1936 along with the corpus of harivaMsham under the editorship of Pt. Ramachandra Shastry Kinjawadekar. But now, bhArata sAvitri is an extinct document in print media, sicne the Chitrashala edn of harivamsham itself is extinct.
Devotees are supposed to recite it daily in morning prayers, since this is called - sakala bhAarata upasaMhAarabhUta - the concluding and evocative chapter of mahAbhArata. While V.S. Sukthankar says that only two verses as bhArata sAvitri while quoting "the essence of the book (Bharata-savitrl), embodying the moral of the story, is given as (B. 18. 5. 62 f.) "urdhva bAhur viraumi eSha... and na jAtu kAmAn... Pt. Kinjavadekar publishes a hundred verse chapter under the name of bhArata sAvitri as an annexure of harivaMsham. This bhArata sAvitri is cited by many pundits like vidyAnidhi siddheshvara shAstry in his book called bhArata varShIya prAcIna charitra kosha, and in many books related to mahAbhArata, like the one written by Chintamani Vinaayak Vaidya, et al.
While Valmiki Ramayana itself is a proponent of gAyatri mantra, this "bhArata sAvitri itself is said to be the gayatri mantra with reference to mahAbhArata. So, this stotra or hymn to gAyatri, aka sAvitri, has emerged as - bhArata sAra saMgraha - the sum total of mahAbhArata.
Tanjavore Sarasvati Mahal Library is having bhArata sAvitri stotra-s with these catalog numbers: 23245 BHARATA VIVARANA STOTRAM; 20138 BHARATA SAVITRI STOTRAM; 20132 BHARATA SAVITRI STOTRAM; 20133 BHARATA SAVITRI STOTRAM. But, they are not able to supply printed versions of this text.
The present text is itransed from the Telugu version presented by shrI jannAbhaTla vIreshvara shAstry.

A. Harindranath of mahabharata-resources webpage has checked and corrected verses from 1 to 86 according to the text of HarivaMsham, Chitrashala Press, (1936). He also referred the matter to Prof. André Couture of Canada, who is kind enough to check up with his copy of Harivamsham and confirmed that bhArata sAvitri comprises only 86 verses. But, the Telugu version we have on hand has some more verses than the 86 number. All these problems are owing to the torn off pages of Harivamsham, Chitrashala Edn., available with Digital Library of India.
Even though the text is corrected and somewhat stabalised, there may be mistakes occuring in formatting and reformatting the webpage. Readers who have access to any of the publications of Bharata Savitri cited above, are requested to kindly communicate any mistakes, typos, missing verses etc. occurring in this webpage, in order to further stabilise the text posted here.
