Alfred Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson FRS was a British poet. Born on 6 August 1809 at Somersby, UK and died on 6 October 1892 at Lurgashall,UK. He was the Poet Laureate of Great Britain and Ireland during much of Queen Victoria's reign and remains one of the most popular British poets. In 1829, Tennyson was awarded the Chancellor's Gold Medal at Cambridge for one of his first pieces, "Timbuktu". His famous works are Ulysses, The Lady of Shalott, In Memoriam A.H.H.
