Revival & Revolution To Uncover Truth
There are four T's that need periodic revival - Truth, Tradition, Trade and Technology. Time has a seeming effect on truth. Though truth is beyond time, it gets covered by maya. This is called avarana. Down the ages different schools of thought have tried to uncover the truth. Though the goal is common to all, the journey itself has to be undertaken individually. If you do not re-examine what you have learnt and believe to be the truth, you become fanatical and your intelleсtual growth stagnates. Similarly, traditions need to be resurrected periodically. Modernisation, globalisation, pseudo-scientists and lack of self-esteem among unorganised ethnic communities often take tradition away from its original form. While maintaining the originality of tradition one must not disre tion. The danger lies in either completely losing tradition to modernisation or becoming anti modernisation. Trade cannot survive if it policies and prin ciples do not incorporate co human values. Not renewing these policies and principles encourages exploitation of the planet. Then frustration grows, violence escalates and poverty, greed and corruption clog society, giving rise to revolution. While technological advancement speaks of the creativity of the human race, its stagnation indicates the death of human intelligentsia. The goal of technology is to bring us comfort without destroying the planet. Its misuse can make us lazy, unhealthy and self-destructive. When truth. tradition, trade and technology stagnate, revolution becomes inevitable. History reveals that decline of human values has led to violent revolutions across the West. In the East, they have happened through bhakti and spiritual regeneration. Non-violence has been the predominant aspect of all the revolutions that have taken place in India. During the time of Basavanna, the 12th century revolutionary saint in Karnataka, 750 saints representing communities across all stratas of society brought about enormous social reform. Others like Guru Nanak and Mahatma Gandhi were honoured and revered by people; their words have transformed society through spiritual resurgence. Revolution becomes inevitable as the human species is not aligned to the evolutionary process. Other creatures don't need it because they are aligned with evolution. Humankind moves away from nature so often. So revolution is a necessary step to bring us closer to the process of evolution. Often people think that being rebellious or angry is being revolutionary. We need to make а distinc tion between revolution and rebelliousness. Just rebelling against a system cannot cause a revolution. But rebellion has been the very foundation of such move ments in the West the Commu nist era, an outcome and reaction towards oppression, the French Revolution and the Spanish Inquisition. Evolution comprises neither revenge, rebellion nor reaction. It is a conscious and necessary move towards life away from decay. A revolution that comes from inner revelation or intuition is long-lasting and brings comfort, philosophical or scientific in nature. Most scientific discoveries stem from an intuitive mind. А calm and collective mind is a source of creativity and dynamism. Spiritual revolution aims at bringing comfort to one's body, mind and spirit. So when you wake up to the truth, you gain the ability to see the past as well as the future as a dream (Divya Satsang and talk by the author on Japjee Sahib at Traffic Training Park Grounds, Ring Road, Punjabi
