We must count our blessings and always be happy with what we have.

We often feel that materialistic possessions are a source of happiness. The greatest ‘kill joys’ are the advertisements that glorify such attainments. They remind us time and again what we lack and we end up disregarding what we have.

Even Google search allows pop-ups of advertisements to tempt us with exciting lifestyles and adventures. We feel new desires stirring up.

We feel upset as to why god granted us only a certain amount and not more. At that moment, we only focus on what we don’t have; but instead if we start counting our blessings we will be able to maintain a balance in our life.

“When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around,” American musician Willie Nelson once said. The more we count our blessings, the more grateful we feel to God.

An overflowing feeling of gratitude can unlock a positive force within us. We begin to realise that what all we have is enough. We feel overwhelmed by God’s kindness. With this shift of focus emerges peace and tranquility. This is what the feeling of gratitude does to us.
