With Ceaseless efforts through centuries, man has succeeded to a great extent to control the forces of nature and to press them into his service. But it is a matter of regret that this has happened before he could realise the true nature of his own self, with the result that he is turning his knowledge to the creation of instruments of destruction. The quest for peace is universal, yet it is strange that it's attainment remains elusive.
Peace is defined in the dictionary as freedom from strife, a state of serenity or calmness. Life and strife seem to go hand in hand, so that it seems as if lasting peace in 'this life is virtually impossible. But true peace can be attained in this lifetime.
We normally look for peace in the outer world. We hope to find it in our possessions, positions and relations. But the loss of any of these gets us agitated and makes us distraught. Our angle of vision needs to be changed. Peace can be found within us only. Christhas said, "The kingdom of heaven is within us. “The way to reach peace with in us is through meditation. In simple words it is withdrawing our attention from the outer world and focusing it at a point between the two eyebrows, called the third eye.
In meditation, we can ne in contact with a current of divine light and celestial sound to higher consciousness, divine love and power. We experience a profound peace, bliss and happiness unlike any we can find in the world.
The first practical lesson on meditation starts when there is a complete withdrawal from the physical body through the kindness of a living master. Instructions in how to place our attention in meditation are the domain of spiritual masters. We realise that the light of God that is within us is within everyone else.
It is at this stage that we develop love for all, for our fellow beings and for all creation. By developing our inner and outer life, we become complete human beings. In this way, our personal attainment of peace and happiness will contribute to a golden age of peace and happiness on earth.
