There are people going through different activities in life who are having one problem or another. When we talk to anyone, we find that they face some kind of a problem – whether financial, physical, emotional or problems pertaining to relationships. But, many times in our own life, there are periods when we find ourselves to be happy and joyous and everything seems to be going on well.
Let us say that you are on a football team and if your team wins, then the happiness and joy is great. You feel maybe for a specific period, and during that time, when you are playing, you never think of anything else such as the pain of being hit by the person from the other team or being tackled or having twenty football players falling on you. Why? Because you are in a state of happiness. But then the happiness goes away. Once we do attain happiness of bliss and joy within, then that state is going to stay with us for eternity. That is what truly takes the pain away.
How does one attain the state of perpetual happiness?
Our soul in our original state is free from pain and suffering. There is nothing within the soul to cause sorrow.
The reason we are in pain or sorrow is that we are living at the level of the senses. It is like living in a dream state. We need to wake up from this dream and experience the reality of our soul. When we do so, we will attain the state of perpetual bliss. Supreme bliss can be reached when we stop identifying with the body, mind, and senses, and instead live at the level of the soul. We need to withdraw our attention from the outside world and focus it within, through meditation. Then, we can find ourselves free of pain and sorrow.
So powerful is the bliss of soul, that one can actually undergo pain and sorrow in this world, and while feeling them, be able to sustain them in a state of bliss. The reason we have pain and suffering is basically due to separation from God. Once our soul is merged in God, there is no pain. We are in a state of bliss.
Now once we are able to merge back in God, through regular meditation, all the separation is gone. All the pain is gone, because we then attain states of bliss that are perpetual, which are going to never end.
When we empower the soul through meditation, we still face pains and problems, but a current of intoxication supports us from within. It is like the arms of a mother supporting her infant while the child receives an injection from the doctor. The love of the mother enables the child to withstand the pinprick. This is quite paradoxical and hard to understand. You feel the pain but your mind is not bothered by it. The pain is experienced in the body, but the message to the brain is blocked in such a way that you can bear it and be oblivious or unmindful of it.
This is the condition that can be ours when we empower our soul through meditation and identify its state of perennial bliss.
