Money Matters, Undoubtedly, But Your Life Matters Even More

Jayati Goel

People say money is the world. It can buy everything, conquer every other object and is undoubtedly the most powerful thing in the world. I beg to differ. The most powerful thing in the world is the bond between people — the moments you share, the laughter, the stories, the secrets, the joys, the ups and downs… all of that.

There are certain things in life where the currency has no value, such as friends, family, and good memories. From happiness to honesty, these are some of the life’s best treasures that cost nothing at all. Money is a piece of paper, and life is more than just about that.

If I am hungry late at night when the shops are shut, I can’t have food even if I have a huge sum of money in my pocket. When someone dies, money can’t bring them back. Money also can’t heal a broken heart. A person with money can buy things he or she desires, but even all that stuff together cannot fill the void inside a person. That void can only be filled by people, by friends, by your loves ones.

That doesn’t at all mean you shouldn’t value money or disrespect it. If you have extra, you can always spend some for the welfare of the underprivileged or those deserving it more than you. But you must also remember that, even for them, it can’t replace the bond they share with the loved ones.
