LG vows for justice to terror victims

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today vowed for justice to the victims of the terrorism and said that the pending cases will be expedited and perpetrators held accountable.

Speaking at SKICC in Srinagar at a function where appointment letters were handed over to the next of kin of terror victims, Sinha assured justice for everyone who has been wronged by terrorists.
”I am resolute in securing justice for every terror victim’s family, and pending cases will be investigated to hold the perpetrators accountable,” he said.
The LG reaffirmed that lands or homes forcibly seized from terror-affected families will be liberated and returned, and cases yet to undergo investigation will receive impartial and transparent probes. “The administration has succeeded in dispelling the shadow of injustice and ushering in a new dawn of justice at the doorsteps of terror victims’ families,” he added.
“To date, around 400 next-of-kins have received employment, and we will continue relentlessly until we reach the very last family awaiting justice,” he said.

The LG said the campaign launched from Baramulla last year has provided these families with support, courage, and renewed self-belief.
”My aim throughout this process is to ensure that no terror-affected family slips into the cracks of neglect, fading from public and official gaze. I view these appointment letters as true justice, and today’s event stands as its living testament,” he said.
Sinha at the function handed over appointment letters to 27 Next of Kins (NoKs) of victims of terrorism and 22 NoKs of deceased Government employees. “To date, around 400 NoKs have received employment and will continue relentlessly until we reach the very last family still awaiting justice,” he added.
The LG said that it is not merely an administrative exercise of signing papers, shuffling files, or filling posts but a profound commitment to justice.
“My aim throughout this process is to ensure that no terror-affected family slipped into the cracks of neglect, fading from public and official gaze. I view these appointment letters as true justice- and today’s event stands as its living testament,” he added.
Sinha directed the Principal Secretary Home to conduct a comprehensive review of the cases pertaining to property encroachment of victims of terrorism.
“I have repeatedly affirmed that lands or homes forcibly seized from terror-affected families will be liberated and returned, and cases yet to undergo investigation will receive impartial, transparent probes,” he said.
The LG highlighted that the administration is committed to the rehabilitation of those left scarred by terror.
Sinha said there are many victims of terrorism who have lost their eyesight or are living with severe disabilities. “We will chalk out a robust framework for their rehabilitation. The administration has also outlined a timeline for providing essential housing and other support to the victims of terrorism,” he said.
The LG called upon people to preserve the unity and foil the efforts of separatist elements.
“Adhering to the PM’s mantra of ‘Zero Tolerance towards Terrorism’, the administration, Police and Security forces are taking decisive action to dismantle terror networks. We must remain vigilant against divisive elements attempting to divide us along sectarian lines. We are Indians; our collective duty is the peace and progress of our nation,” he said.
Recalling the impact of terrorism in the 1990s, he said thousands of families had lost their stability, dreams and future due to terrorism. “Our neighbouring country and the ecosystem of foreign terrorism took away the stability and future of thousands of innocent families in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Sinha said officials and citizens must also work together to strengthen faith in our government institutions.
Sinha said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, important initiatives were taken over the past five to six years with a singular, overarching goal- to forge a Jammu Kashmir undefined by the pains of its past, but brimming with self-confidence.
“In August 2020, I had set this vision-to develop a Jammu Kashmir that measures its strength by the heights of its dreams, and to build a system rooted in social justice, dignity, and equal opportunity,” he said.
The LG said the youth of J&K possess “extraordinary possibilities” and it is the collective responsibility of society to help them realise their potential.
“Every youth of J&K is moving forward with extraordinary possibilities. We must work together so that the youth, especially girls, can shape the future in a new way,” he said.
Highlighting recent achievements, Sinha said 16 candidates from J&K had been selected in the Union Public Service Commission examination this year and added that the region had also won the Ranji Trophy after a long time.
The LG said development cannot be measured by economic growth alone but also by improvements in the quality of life of citizens. “Development of this region is not only dependent on economic progress but also on the quality of life of its people,” he said.
Officials and citizens must also work together to strengthen faith in our government institutions,” the Lieutenant Governor further said.

Bhandari;  Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department, M Raju; IGP Kashmir, VK Birdi; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo; Dr GV Sundeep Chakravarthy, SSP Srinagar; Chairman, Save Youth Save Future Foundation, Wajahat Farooq Bhat and other members of the Foundation, senior officials, members of various social organisations and family members of victims of terrorism were present.
