Police conducts raids on residences businesses of JeI members

Police today conducted raids at the residences of leaders of banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) including their two former heads and offices of the organizations affiliated with it.

A police spokesman said that in a sustained effort to strengthen the security environment and maintain public order, Srinagar Police conducted coordinated searches at multiple locations linked to certain associates and organizations affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

It said that the searches were carried out at the residences and business establishments of the several JeI leaders.
The raids were conducted at the residence of former Amir of JeI, Mohammad Abdullah Wani, son of Mohammad Akber Wani, resident of Wadwan Budgam, presently residing at Mandir Bagh Baghat Srinagar, former Amir Ghulam Mohammad Bhat son of Abdul Jabbar Bhat, resident of Bemina, Umar Sultan Guru, son of Mohammad Farooq Guru, resident of Al Noor Colony Chanpora, Owner of Tour and Travel Syndicate, Haji Mohammad Ramzan Lone, son of Late Ali Mohammad Lone, resident of Soura Sheikh Molalla of Ramzana Memorial Educational Institute, Soura, Shahid Zahgeer, son of Abdul Salam, of Buchpora Soura, Srinagar of Ramzana Memorial School, Soura, Mohammad Ramzan Naik alias Faheem, son of Ghulam Qadir Naik, resident of Lalbazar, Bashir Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Samad Lone, resident of Syedpora Harwan, Peer Giyas Ud Din, resident of Nowgam of Falah Research Ramzan Centre, Nowgam and Manzoor Ahmad, resident of Nowgam Chowk.
The spokesman said that searches were also conducted at the institutions associated with JeI ideology. They include Jamiat-ul-Banaat, Kashmir University, Umer Colony, Lal Bazar, Rahat Manzil (JK Yateem Khana), Bagh-i-Nand Singh, Chattabal, Chinar Publication Trust, Maisuma and Al-Kousar Book Shop, Maisuma.
The spokesman said that the action was initiated based on credible inputs regarding activities deemed prejudicial to the security and stability of the region.
“All searches were carried out strictly in accordance with legal procedures. Incriminating materials relevant to the investigation were seized for detailed examination,” the spokesman said.
“Srinagar police reiterate its commitment to maintaining peace, preventing unlawful activities, and ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere for all citizens. The public is requested to extend full cooperation to law-enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activity to maintain peace and public order in the region,” he added.
In Anantnag, police carried out extensive raids at multiple locations of JeI members across the district.
“The searches were conducted at the residential premises and other locations linked to JeI members and their associates as part of the ongoing efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem and its support structures,” the spokesman said.
In Budgam raids and searches were conducted at the residences of JeI and Institutes linked to the banned organisation.
“Multiple searches were carried out in Chadoora, Soibugh and Beerwah areas. Searches were conducted by following due procedure of law. The search team was comprising of police officers, lady police teams, local numberdars. Various electronic devices along with documents were seized from the houses of JeI linked members and institutes,” the spokesman said.
“The operation was conducted to dismantle the terror ecosystem and separatist propaganda of proscribed organisation JeI. Through such operations police reaffirms its commitment to establish and ensure peace and terror free environment in district”, the spokesman added.
The spokesman said that raids were also conducted at multiple locations across Shopian district against JeI leaders.

“The large-scale operation forms part of the continuing preventive measures aimed at identifying and neutralising networks attempting to covertly revive the activities of proscribed organisations. All individuals with any past or present affiliation to the banned group were brought under the ambit of the searches,” the spokesman added.
He said that during the raids, police recovered electronic gadgets along with various documents and other incriminating materials suspected to have relevance to the organisation’s clandestine activities. “These items have been seized for detailed forensic and technical examination,” he said.
The spokesman further said that in the backdrop of the recent spur in terrorist activities and with the objective to curb the tendency of radicalisation among youth, Police in Pulwama in conducted searches at various locations linked with JeI across the district.
“The searches were carried out early morning by Pulwama police accompanied by the Executive Magistrate and other witnesses. All procedures were followed strictly as per law, and the operation was conducted in a cordial atmosphere. During the searches, the teams inspected multiple premises associated with JeI-linked individuals; however, no incriminating material was seized from any of the locations,” the spokesman added.
Police in Awantipora also carried out extensive raids at multiple locations in the area at the residences of JeI members.
“The searches were conducted at the houses and premises of JeI members and their associates as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem and its support structures. During the operation, incriminating material and digital devices were recovered, while several JeI members were questioned and bound down under law,” the spokesman said.
In Kulgam, police spokesman said that it carried out meticulously coordinated searches at multiple locations across the district, targeting individuals and premises linked with the JeI.
“During search, a significant quantity of electronic gadgets, literature and documents suspected to have relevance to ongoing investigations have been recovered. All recovered materials have been seized on the spot and taken into custody for detailed scrutiny,” he said.
The spokesman said that the operation was conducted to dismantle the terror ecosystem and separatist propaganda of proscribed organisation JeI. “Through such operations police reaffirms its commitment to establish and ensure peace and terror free environment in district,” the spokesman added.
In Handwara, the spokesman said raid was conducted at Jamia Islamia Institute, Waripora Handwara for its links with JeI.
“Electronic devices recovered during the operation have been seized and are being thoroughly examined to ascertain their usage and to verify any suspected affiliations, including possible links with banned organisations such as JEI,” he added.
