The encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Danna Dhar forest of Kishtwar district entered its third day on Monday as the search and cordon operation continued for the ultras, who are taking the cover in the thick forest area.
Danna Dhar in upper reaches of Gurinal village is located in the jurisdiction of Chatroo police station in the district. An operation was launched by the Army and police on September 21 after information was received about presence of 2-3 ultras in the forest area.
The police informed that firing between terrorists and security forces has taken place at least twice on September 21 and 22. There was no firing on Monday but the operation to eliminate the hiding ultras continued.
A police spokesperson said based on specific intelligence about presence of terrorists, a joint search operation was launched by the security forces near Danna Dhar forest area in the upper reaches of Gurinal village. The area has been cordoned and sniffer dogs and drones are being used to locate the ultras, believed to be of Jaish-e-Mohammad.
