Keeping in view the high alert situation in the wake of forthcoming Independence day, the troops opened fire

The Border Security Force (BSF) shot a Pakistani intruder on the International Border after he entered Indian territory in the Tarn Taran sector on Monday night.

At about 08:40 pm, BSF troops observed the movement of the Pakistani intruder, who surreptitiously crossed the border and started approaching the security fence under the cover of darkness near Dal village, an official said.

Troops immediately challenged the intruder but he did not stop and continued his advance towards the fence. Sensing imminent danger and keeping in view the high alert situation on the border in the wake of forthcoming Independence day, the troops opened fire, neutralising him on the spot, the official added.
