Date:- 14 Jun 2022

The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an attempt of armed terrorists to sneak into this side of the border in Arnia sector of Jammu late evening yesterday. The incident occurred at around 9.30 pm when BSF personnel noticed suspicious movement near the fencing at the international border in Arnia. The area is known for drone intrusions carrying arms and ammunition from Pakistan side.

SPS Sandhu, DIG and PRO of the BSF, Jammu, said, “Alert BSF troops observed suspicious movement close to the border in Arnia sector at about 9.30 pm on Sunday. The personnel challenged them on which the intruders opened fire. The BSF retaliated by firing few bursts (of bullets) towards them due to which they ran back. A search was carried out early morning on Monday but nothing was recovered.”

With Amarnath pilgrimage about to start on June 30, Pakistan-based groups are leaving no stone unturned to infiltrate terrorists into J&K. As the vigil by the Army along the Line of Control (LoC) is up, the terrorists are trying to enter through Jammu.

Security forces, including the BSF, the police, the Army and intelligence agencies, are holding regular meetings ahead of the pilgrimage. This is for the first time that the agencies are making such elaborate arrangements as the pilgrimage is being conducted after a gap of two years. Terror organisation have also threatened the forces against conducting the Hindu pilgrimage.
