Manzoor Ahmad Bangroo was shot in an orchard at Goush-bugh village

Militants shot dead a sarpanch at Goush-bugh village of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday evening.

A police official said the sarpanch was shot dead by suspected militants in an orchard at Goush-bugh village.

The sarpanch has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bangroo of Goush-bugh and is said to be associated with the BJP.

The area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers, the police official said.
