Ultras using novel tricks to hide: Forces

Date:- 05 Oct 2020

Security forces responsible for guarding borders and also the inner parts of Jammu and Kashmir have revealed that terrorists, who are infiltrating without arms, are adopting innovative ways to hide themselves.

Sources in the security forces, including the BSF and CRPF, said with the support of terrorists already staying in J&K, infiltrators hide themselves in structures built in seasonal open drains and septic tanks of the Indian-style toilets.

“With this, they play hide and seek with forces on the ground to avoid being encountered,” said a senior security official. Of late, their stay in J&K with the support of local civilians has become very difficult owing to the fact that the trend dwindled after the erstwhile state was re-organised into two UTs and special provisions under Article 370 were done away with on August 5, 2019, he added.

A security official said during patrolling, the forces found that false cavities under Indian toilets and steel box beneath seasonal open drains were being used by terrorist groups to hide amid mounting pressure on them, which led to a number of casualties in their rank and file.

Giving details about such a hiding place within a septic tank, another security personnel said the patrolling team detected a false cavity in the Watrigaam area of Anantnag, as it noticed fresh white cement around an Indian toilet inside a house.
