Intolerance is ruining inclusiveness, economy of Kashmir Valley and Pakistan
This month islami st radicals choked Pakistan for three days over a blasphemy acquittal They blocked roads, smashed vehicles and forced traders to shut their businesses. They were protesting against a Supreme Court order which freed Asia Bibi, mother of five who had been living on death row since 2010. She was the first woman sentenced to death by hanging under Pakistan's controversial blasphemy laws.
Threes-+-Labaik Pakistan (TLP), a far-right party that Kashmir emerged after the execution of Mutai Qadr murderer of former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer who defended Bibi was at the forefront of the countrywide protests Khadim Hussain Rizvi, TLP chief was the main force behind the protests. He called for the assassination of the Pak Chief Justice who acquitted Bibl Other religious groups, including Jamaat-ud-Dawa, headed by the Mumbai attack mastermind. Hafiz Saeed, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam- Faz-ur-Rehman and Jamiat Ulema--Islam-Samiul Haq supported the protest call.
Political observers describe such Pak religious extremists doing disservice to Islam. They criticise such elements for threatening to kill judges. The actions have brought a bad name for the lack of tolerance and empathy for Pak religious and gender minorities. The Government has initiated criminal proceedings against the notes and booked 5.000 persons.
Bibi and her family members have left their residential place. They are hiding after receiving threats of being assassinated Bibi wants to go out of Pakistan but the Government has disallowed her leaving the country. The events have created a sense of insecurity among the Christian and other minorities.
In a similar manner, Kashmiri terrorists are indulging in displaying intolerant acts. They abducted and killed police sub-inspector Imtiaz Mir in the Pulwama district-without any fault of his. He was a devout Muslim God-fearing, deeply religious, who could never miss even a single roza. He was the only earning member of his family Mir's friends and relatives have posted a message to the murderers saying "When you killed him why didn't you kill us all. Why didn't you kill his mom, dad, sister, brother and the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with? We can't live without him. When you killed Imtiaz you killed a loving son who was the only support of his aged mother obedient son of an old father a brother who was the only support of his brother and sister You killed every dream of a young girl whom he wanted to marry You killed someone who loved his Kashmir and its people whose only wish was to see a happy kashmir .
This killing, and other similar terrorist acts, have given a bad name to the Valley and created impediments in its growth. These have affected businesses, education and even sports. Among infiltrations, terror attacks and surgical strikes Kashmir Pandits and Muslims have joined hands to promote football The Real Kashmir team is being managed by Sandeep Chatto and Shameen Meraj Chatto says "We want Kashmiri youth to take up football instead of petting stones Danish Farooq has been given the moniker "Kashmir Ronaldo" He was the joint-highest goal scorer for Real Kashmir FC in the I-League second division Danish says that the Kashmiri football team will show the world that there is more of Kashmir than violence However some football players are afraid that when matches are fixed and teams from outside come to participate, there may be a hartal in the valley and all the preparations may go waste.
The hartals and violent events in Pakistan and Kashmir have brought to fore the need for strengthening the spirit of inclusiveness in the manner these are being strengthened in the major parts of India Rashtriya Sevak Sangh, considered a far-right set up has announced that it stands for inclusiveness of society it says Muslims are as good citizens of India as others are. It has declared that it supports the constitutional provisions of secularism
Attributes similar to these are needed. If society has to move forward and face competition of the 21" century inwhich artificial intelligence may play an important role.
