Thank you Well begun is half done
The successful culmination of this year's commemorative programme of the Martyrs Day, on September 14 was really a milestone in our collective journey of seeking justice as a community, which has lost home and so many lives to the so-called freedom movement of jihadis in the Kashmir valley You came you participated and fired imagination of seven lakh of us scattered around the globe A big thank you for making this successful show of strength and solidarity happening after a long time in Delhi NCR.
The magnificent and purposeful show that all of us put together at Jantar Mantar on the September 14 evening will be remembered for a long time and I am sure it will ignite our minds and renew our energies towards our struggle of reclaiming our lost home honour and importantly bargaining power as an important stakeholder in the Kashmir conflict resolution. We, along with Panun Kashmir, have demanded a separate homeland with the union territory status within Kashmir because in our view it is a panacea for reversing our genocide. But, as I said on that day. our battle is long drawn and 1 sincerely hope we maintain this kind of momentum in times to come so that our struggle for justice and genocide inflicted upon us time and again will be reversed permanently.
The success of the event supported by people from every nook and corner of Delhi NCR, also reaffirmed Kashmiri Samiti Delhi's own reputation of being a people's organisation and also of its leadership role in Delhi NCR. The list of people to thank is very long. But I would like to acknowledge and thank my entire Executive Council which stood united like a rock and as a true cadre worked very hard to make the programme a huge huge success.
I would also like to thank our well-wishers and volunteers from the community who contributed to the success, Sh Ajay Kak in particular, was a great rallying force and I really salute his commitment towards the KP community. The entire team of Kashmir Pandit Welfare Association Sector-37, Fandabdad proceedings needs to be congratulated for being supportive from the outset Same is true for Harmukh Charitable Society, Vipin Garden Kashmir Hindu Association, Rohini, KPS, Shalimar Garden, Sahibabad KPC Sabha, Jain Nagar, RWA Satisar Dwarka Ashok Vihar, Gurgaon: KP Migrants Welfare Association, Sec 23, Dwarka, KPHS Dwarka. Najafgarh KP Association Mayur Vihar- III KP Association and other grassroots organisations. Lots of mel thanks must go to Sh Kundan Kashmin ji and his Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) for always being there for the KP community and as true friend of KSD in times of need.
I would like to express my profound thanks and gratitude to the Panun Kashmir leadership team of Dr Agnishekhar and Dr Ajay Chrungoo for being supportive from the very start and coming all the way from Jammu and to its activists from across Delhi and NCR for being there and add more appeal and value to our protest Speeches delivered by both PK leaders were inspiring.
I will also like to go briefly into a kind of controversy that was created by two different commemorative programmes in Delhi on the same day and almost around the same time People, who know the history of Martyrs Day will agree that first, this was nothing new. In the past too. Just to deny KSD, Its rightful role, some groups observed Martyrs Day separately at a stone's throw on the same venue. This time around we had hoped that with the intervention of KP NRIs, who called themselves as GKPD (Global KP Diaspora), the programme and event would get a boost and our voice would become louder enough to the reach the corridors of power But at the behest of some self-promoting elements KSD along with PK were virtually made as outcastes and the group went on to circulate memorandum without taking our views and excluding us.
After this happened we were left with no choice but to organise our own programme in a short span of time. So we held consultations and a joint working group was formed with leading organisations of the region. A special mention of Panun Kashmir is necessary because it not only joined the event but also lent a great support in public mobilisation its youth wing Youth For Panun Kashmir, also needs a special mention in this regard.
The programme itself was very well organised and it became a protest rally of reckoning Sh M K Bhat Nirdan, our Kashmiri section Editor of Koshur Samachar and a broadcaster who anchored the event, did it well and needs to be commended. Sh Dhananjay Kaul, music composer and Anjali Kaul artist and her team also need to be commended for putting together a lively show where emotions of those gathered were stirred and everybody thoroughly immersed himself/herself in the proceedings.
Shaheedon ki chitavon par lagenge har baras maley
Watan par mitney walon ka aakhir yahi nishan hoga
I wish next year, when we come together again for the Martyrs Day, the demand for justice, homeland and our political rights would be heard. But let us not live in wishful thinking and continue with struggle until we are heardand our demands are met.
