Martyrs Day is on September 14 Join us in Strength
Dear community members.
Namaskar
September 14 is a memorable day for Kashmin Pandits, as a community, though entirely for bad and sad memories. When our community fed from its homes in 1990 and subsequently wandered in despair, dismay and difficulty we needed symbols of solidarity. We needed architecture of consolidating our struggle for survival. We needed icons to identify our cause.
It was in this chumming that Kashmiri Samiti Delhi came up with the idea of marking September 14 as our Martyr's Day had all the symbolam and criteria that made it acceptable across the community Late Pandit Tika Lal Tapio state BJP Vice President and member of BJP rational executive was a fearless nationalist activist and a community stalwart He symbolised the nationalist ideology while simultaneously being a great practitioner of Kashmiriyat And then terrorists sprayed him with bullets killing him brutally on September 13, 1989 Next day as his cremation was attended by thousands of mourners t signalled the imminent danger to our existence as a community in Kashmir.
And yes thereafter Islamic terrorists started the theatre of selective killing of the members of our community and eventually forced us to leave our home and hearth to save our lives. Hundreds of our people fell to terrorists bullets, unaccounted till even today So. September 14 was really the start of our uprooting and brutal persecution.
Designating and observing the day as our Martyrs Day made by Kashmir Samit Delhi was both emotional and strategic By this we have been able to keep the memory of our terror victims alive and also make a case for our solidarity It has become an established occasion in the last 27 years to assemble and give out a strong message of our plight and human rights violations out to the outside world, .
Our story needs to be loud again and again till the time we are heard and our rightful place is given back to us. This is also necessary to pass on the baton to our own younger generation
It is in this backdrop, this year, Kashmir Samil Delhi is taking lead in making Martyrs Day impactful with a show of strength and solidarity Our sister KP organisations, which picked up the theme and added to its significance with their participation in our activities of the day or did it on their own have this time around decided to join us with the mission of holding a massive demonstration.
It is also heartening that Global Kashmin Pandit Diaspora with its representatives in USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand Netherlands, Finland, Australia, Germany Singapore and other countries, has joined us to make this year's September 14 programme a resounding success throughout the world All organisations in India, along with Kashmiri Pandit Global Diaspora, will be working as a single KP giobel unt in a consolidated manner with the aim of ring our our night to return rehabilitation and restitution. This is the historic best moment in our community's history white boes our motto "One Community, One voice, one Demand.
All global representatives will be meeting Indian Ambassadors Indian Consulates General in USA Washington DC along with Indian consulates in Houston Chicago, Atlanta and New York Canada, UK Netherlands, Finland Australia, Germany and Singe and sharing one common memorandum on September 14.
As such, we are looking at mass mobilisation Delhi NCR to turn it into a big show of strength The aim is to age a massive demonstration at Jantar Mantar on September 14, The measure has been necessitated because our community is being neglected for too long Shri Surinder Kaul, from USA has put it in a better and passionate way and I would like to reproduce it with due credit to him as his statement sums up our emotions and demand.
The portion of statement, I am quoting here is as follows I am making an earnest request and appeal to all community members abroad and in India to be part of this movement and demonstrate that We Exit because India is going to be in election mode and we need to convey strong messages all across the political spectrum including our current establishment in India .
Let us jointly send a message to the Government that the community's problem will be solved only when we are provided a Separate Homeland in the valley with a Union Territory status.
So. 1, on behalf of Kashmir Samiti Delhi would add to this appeal and request all our brothers, sisters, elders, youth and children to show up at Jantar Mantar on September 14 Let's make it momentous and historic. Give one day to your community! Let's join hands together to fight for our cause.
