Sh. S M Krishna A True Welwisher of Displaced Kp Community in Karnataka

Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna’s (S M Krishna) passing away has saddened me as a journalist. I got in touch with him in early 90s when Veerappa Moily became the CM after S Bangarappa was removed as CM of Karnataka and Krishna deprived of the top post.

Late Sh R T Narayanan, a close friend, political advisor and a well-wisher of Krishna called me to West End hotel for an exclusive interview with Krishna. As Chief of Bureau, The Indian Express newspaper, I gladly accepted. During the interview he poured his heart out against his political adversaries in Congress in Karnataka and Delhi. From then onwards, he trusted me as a reliable journalist and I found a friendly politician who would take my words seriously. It is a personal loss to me as I admired him as a selfless political personality, highly suave and sophisticated with outstanding academic credentials unlike many other politicians He stood out prominent due to his high stature and sense of dress. His well behaviour and understanding of things made him a statesman who served as Union External Affairs Minister from 2009 to October 2012, Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1999 to 2004 and Governor of Maharashtra from 2004 to 2008. He will be remembered for building Brand Bengaluru and making it as the Software hub of India. Known for his intellectual prowess and administrative acumen, Krishna’s commitment to public service and his vision for Karnataka has left an indelible mark on the state’s governance and development.
