Kashmiri Samiti Delhi since its existence has been on the forefront for the cause of uprooted community. be it a social, cultural or political. The responsibilities are many but the present set up of office bearers is determined to carry out these with all sincerity and honesty. The dedicated team of Samiti has been actively involved with various educational programmes of our community wards. Here are some of the important activities.
1. Meeting with Smt. Tajdar Babar Vice-Chairman New Delhi municipal corporation Delhi
A meeting with Vice Chairman NDMC was held in her office chamber. Kashmiri Samiti, Delhi was represented by S/Shri Dr. L N Dhar-President, Hira Lal Jad-Treasurer. Vijay Kumar Nehru, Pamposh Raina (Coordinators), and Manoj Kumar Camp Commander Palika Dham. Dr. L N Dhar-President submitted the memorandum to Hon'ble vice chairman of NDMC regarding the permanent settlement of Teh Bazari and allotment of flats to the campers residing at Palika Dham
Meeting with Deputy Commissioner
A meeting with Deputy Commissioner East was held on in connection with stopping payment to the migrant for want of verifications. The undersigned represented the KSD and discussed the problems being faced by migrants. The Deputy commissioner East ordered his staff to stop the verification and release the payments immediately.
Meeting with Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gandhi Nagar Delhi
Meeting with SDM Gandhinagar was conducted in his office chamber. KSD was represented by under signed along with S/Shri Vijay Miskeen and Chandjee Shahbadi The SDM was informed about the verification which was being conducted by his officials during late hours of night. SDM Gandhinagar issued immediate orders to stop the verification and released the withheld payments of the migrants, drawing cash assistance from that office immediately. Admission for Diploma Engineering Delhi:
Directorate of Technical Education Delhi, conducted counselling for admissions to Diploma courses in various Polytechnics of Delhi. The counselling was held at Pusa Polytechnic, Mani Ram Marg, Pitampura Delhi. About ten Kashmiri migrant students got admissions in various Polytechnics Delhi. The Kashmiri Samiti was represented by S/Shri Nanaji Raina, Avinash Tickoo (Vice-Presidents); Ramesh Motta (co-coordinator) and Pran Nath Wali-member for assisting migrant wards during the counselling session.
Haryana admissions:
This year Govt. of Haryana has extended its educational concession by way of allotting one seat per stream per college for the wards of Kashmiri migrants. Accordingly the Directorate of Technical Education conducted the round of admission from 28- 08-2006 onwards. About 104 Kashmiri migrant students were allotted seats in various colleges. The counselling was conducted under the chairmanship of Er. D.K. Gupta Additional Director, Directorate of Technical Education Haryana along with his team S/ Sh. P J Soni, P K Malhotra, Rajiv Sapru, Harish Gupta; Kulwant Khar, Harish Khanna, R S Sanjwan; Smt. Anita, Smt. Paras and Miss Anju and other staff members. Kashmiri Samiti Delhi is highly obliged to Shri M P Gupta Director, Directorate of Technical Education Haryana and Er. D.K. Gupta Additional Director for their efforts in getting one seat per stream per college allotted to the wards of Kashmiri migrants. Kashmiri migrants were also allotted the seats for MBA MCA lateral Admissions to 2nd year Engineering, Admissions in Diploma Engineering in the state of Haryana.
Samiti as usual deputed their team S/Shri Avinash Tickoo Vice-President, Hira Lal Jad Treasurer and the undersigned to assist the migrant wards during the counselling Being the Nodal Agency for welfare of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, KSD played a vital role in the counselling process and granting admission to the migrant students in Haryana.
