Give JKNDF a Chance

I have spent more than twenty-five years now to understand how to change the world for Kashmiri Pandits. For most of that time, I worked with politicians of all hues besides the Community leaders and civil servants.   1 had also access to the rebels. Finally, it dawned to me that negotiations hold the key. Reaching at some accord gives a fair chance to peace. This I believe is the only way to sweep up the broken pieces and rebuild the community in cohesion with their political, economic and other rights. But for achieving this elected leadership is a pre-requisite.

Let us take a leaf from history and promote a new vision for our community and the country as a whole. For this it is essential to synthesize the over all understanding of the emerging realities and possibilities. First scenario is that the militancy can come back with a bang in Kashmir. Second, the inability of the leadership in addressing the deep problems of the community now living in forced exile for about 20 years and their skills to involve other people and finally the vision of a peaceful and a self respecting community with people keeping their head high and most of their concerns addressed. Taking a cue from the past experiences and the successful experiments held in this regard, I suppose a deep dialogue among the people who had previously not spoken to each other is essential. For this it is important to isolate those who are already exposed or wearing coloured glasses.  This is bound to give birth to the genuine leader-ship. Later the leadership has to prove its metal and broad base the process .How they involve the other stake holders for producing concrete results is a big question mark. But the key point is to talk and listen to every one. This can be only possible when the leadership has the capacity to recognize and navigate different shades of opinion and intensify the involvement of all the stake holders .One thing has to be made clear to one and all that for carrying out such a process, it is not possible to live in cabins or pigeon holes. One has to keep himself open for insights, so that you can recognize them when they occur. Finally, it again is of immense importance that leadership needs other supporting insights to create a breakthrough proposition that can convert that insight into a black buster opportunity. At the first instance let us support the movement that is striving for it. If at all we are serious, JKNDF has to be given a chance. Let us all join the process to have an elected leadership with a clear cut agenda. The rest will follow.
