Insult To Rashtra Bhasha

We Watched with utter shock that members from Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena created an unprecedented scene of violence in the Maharashtra State Assembly at the time of swearing in Of the newly elected members. It is a travesty that Parliamentary democracy is of late reduced to such a bizarre type of ruckus and healthy debates and discussions are substituted by acts of rowdyism and manhandling. Samajwadi Party member Abu Azmi was roughed up by MNS members which was shown live by the media as he rose to take oath in Hindi which is our National language, our official language about which we all Indians should have respect and a continuous endeavour to ensure its propagation and progress across the country and we should take pride in that. The Constitution of India while recognizing Hindi as our Rashtra Bhasha gives due place and respect to 18 Indian languages as well and Act 19 of The Official Languages Act 1963 enshrines the placement of Hindi for the official purpose of the Union, for transacting business in Parliament, for Centre and states Acts for certain purposes in High Courts etc. Again article 348 clause (3) has the provision of arranging of translation from Hindi into other Indian languages and it is beyond comprehension as to what objection and discomfort was felt by the members of MNS that prompted them to show such an disrespect towards Hindi, our own language. This language and its scripts were - based on an ancient language Sanskrit. Most of the sacred books of Hinduism are written in this ancient rich Sanskrit language and the script is called Devnagiri Shiv Sena taking pride in glorifying all that is Indian should shower such disrespect for Hindi has stunned every Hindi loving Indian. It also speaks a lot about the Central Government's policies adopted all these years for failing to provide the due place to Hindi across the country, at least not as much place so as to converse in this language while passing from one state or one region to the other. We should salute the Chinese, the French, the Russians and other countries who speak in their own National languages even the position of Pakistan is better than ours as, soon after its birth on Aug 14, 1947, they accorded the highest place to Urdu unlike us. We have regards for the Marathi or any provincial, regional language but Hindi is our National pride. Let us all contribute our mite towards its progress and growth and throw away inhibitions, if any, and prove ourselves true Indians. Petty and cheap politics should not be the darling of those who are sent to August Houses like Parliament and State Assemblies and other similar bodies.
