Address the question of our Return to Homeland
Maharaj Shah Editor Koshur Samachar 2022
Οur hope is waning with every passing day. Wherever we meet and whenever we meet with our relatives and friends; though the opportunity of such meetings has considerably diminished with the passage of time, after a formal exchange of good will gesture, our conversation too often revolves around our homeland Kashmir. We express the regret of loss we have undergone. Too often we enquire from each other if the leftover property was still intact, occupied by a neighbour Muslim or sold in distress. We asked each other if anyone had visited his/her home in the last 32 years? Even though each one of us knows that replying to such queries brings a lot of pain, sorrow, disappointment, dejection, self pity and agony on our mind and heart yet we try to conceal this in many ways. We put a very bold face and send curse to those who usurped our homeland, we all claim to be better placed, we curse those who had reduced our existence to second class citizens and who were eying our assets and our women.
We don't want to go back among those people again who tormented us, who committed genocide on us and who started killing our community leaders and members at random, we become repulsive, we get agitated over the mere thought of it and we dismiss this kind of return, we are branded communal, and Hindu Extremist. We are seen as exclusionists, our entire genocide on religious discrimination and exclusion is totally ignored the victim is equated with the perpetrator of the crime. A big picture about Muslim killings Islamic Jihadis is brought in counter to down size the total genocide of Kashmiri Pandits by the same Jihadis from Kashmir.
This kind of narrative setting against the forced exodus and Genocide of Kashmiri Pandits country. is built only to stop them from returning to their homeland. Even small number of PM Package employees is targeted and innocent killings of Kashmiri Pandits have not stopped till date. So much so that these employees had to be kept in tight security. Their movement in valley is very restricted and they operate from their cluster colonies of make-shift camps in Valley.
The Kashmiri Pandit is compelled to believe that Kashmir may have hosted G20 tourism summit for few days. The international delegates might have praised the apparent calm in the valley the conditions for Kashmiri Pandits have by and large remained unchanged for the last 30 years. The Politicians hailing democracy and inclusive co living of Hindus and Muslims have by and large not walked the talk. They have more often than not sided with the terrorists. Negated our genocide paid lip sympathy on our killings and remained totally defiant on the question of our return. They have in-fact opposed our return in many ways, Never worked out with sincerity for our return. when in power and opposed our resettlement in a comprehensive, self sustaining and separate township at a district level.
Government of India has also totally ignored the issue of our genocide and has made no effort towards our rehabilitation and resettlement. We will keep reminding that no peace is possible in Kashmir valley without addressing the issue of genocide of Kashmiri Pandits. Without paying immediate attention to their short term and long term problems. Our perpetual exodus, if not addressed now, will have far reaching consequences on the future of entire Hindu Community living in our country.
