Resurgent KP
B L Seru (Kaul)
Peoples' interest and political decisions should a respectable Indian democracy has to survive and people have to retain confidence in the same.
More than a generation-old so-called dispute which has been both the cause and effect of discord in the Indian sub-continent has once again come into the limelight.
In fact, the separatist forces have been there in Kashmir, right from the time of its accession to India. Since the dawn of independence to this day. Kashmiri Pandits have been suffering from the ho locaust of Muslim fundamentalists, who in the name of Jehad are destroying everything, which comes in their way "Once a Muslim kills an infidel, he en sures that he shall never be in Hell The one who dies waging Jehad is a martyr and is granted Paradise.
It is unfortunate, but true, that once a community falls on evil days and is terrorised, it is not merely home and hearth they lose, but also their freedom. and culture receive setbacks, their moral fabric is shattered, the economy declines, they lose self-confidence, develop a sense of insecurity, utter frustration and destabilisation haunts them like a living monster. The crisis facing the community is that created by those who strive to isolate K.Ps, and distort the meaning of Kashmiriyat.
Today indeed is the moment for self-introspection for every genuine KP, to rise and revitalise himself for moral, social and spiritual regeneration. Someone within the community needs to hold the beacon light to stir the community, instill into them a sense of pride, confidence in their glorious past. and urge them to rise from the slumber to remould and shape themselves to face the challenge of callous state and Centre and nefarious designs of ISI supported Kashmiri militants.
In this hour of dejection, the Kashmiri Pandit who is politically emancipated, is required to create faith, courage and self-confidence in the entire community. This was achieved by a number of torch bearers of the community in the dark days of savage Pathan misrule in Kashmir. These brave sons of Mouj-Kasheer dispelled the fog of timidity and cowardice and gave K.Ps pride in their glorious past. Time has come to awake from the slumber and produce a band of fearless, selfless and dedicated leadership, who through their untiring and relentless zeal would enthuse and revitalise the community.
What we need is to stand together, to follow one leadership and cultivate a forward looking attitude and believe in self-growth (community as a whole) There is hardly any compulsion to stand on personality cult, but cut off the fetters of egoistic bondage and reshape the community.
Let us search our hearts and dispassionately think and feel as to whether it was not because of our weakness-mental blocks and physical cowardice that we had been tolerating miseries and discrimi nation for two hundred years. K.P. has a vastness of rich heritage. The last time, when the community fell on evil days, was the merciless barbarity let loose by the 'Pathan rule'. They destroyed the pious ethos of 'Rishi Pratha', but could not annihilate the Kashmiri Pandit because K.P. has force, which he inherited from 'Kashyap Rishi', who founded Kashmir. If K.P is to assert himself he has to ensure that spirited persons take charge. Let us kindle the younger generation of the community to fearlessly sail the boat across the stormy sea. The elders in the community need to give a clarion call which should inspire the slumbering community.
Now it will be K.P resurgence which will be umph. It will be the resurgent community which will speak and dictate. The year 1996 should be the year of Re-dedication of K.Ps. towards achieving its goal to liberate 'Kashmiri Rishivar' from the ruthless militants and enemies of genuine Kashmiriyat.
