1996 11 Our News Folio- From Jammu - Kashmiri Hindu Fire Sufferers Forum
At an emergency meeting held on September 23, under the chairmanship of Shri PN Tufchi, the Kashmiri Hindu Fire Sufferers Forum, Jammu. expressed grave concern and resentment over Hypocritical Tactics of some indiscreet functionary of government to deny or delay in giving legitimate dues to the fire sufferers of Kashmir valley. As per the cursory figures of the fire victims, it is noticed that near about 19 thousand houses of Kashmiri Hindus have been burnt by the fundamentalists in the Kashmir Valley. The unjust and unfair treatment of the Government from one side not to grant sanction orders from the Kashmir valley as ex gratia relief and subsequent inaction for not providing adequate funds for the sanctions already communicated and released in favour of the victims of fire, the fire sufferers have suffered very badly. Till date payment of ex gratia relief has been granted to about four thousand victims of fire at Jammu and rest of the sanction orders have become ineffective for want of adequate funds. It was stressed on the state administration to provide adequate funds and clear all sanction orders or district Srinagar in the first phase as the number of fire sufferers of this district Srinagar in the first phase as the number of fire sufferers of this district is on higher side compared to other districts of Kashmir valley.
