Autar Krishan Rahbars contribution to Kashmiri literature eulogised Sahitya Akademi organises symposium

A symposium on the lifeKoshur Samachar Team  and works of the celebrated Kashmir weiter Autar Krishan Rahbar (1934-2020) was held on 31 October, last, in the Conference Hall of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi Eminent writers and scholars from Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of the country participated in the one-day convention to draw attention to the literary contributions of the legendary short story writer, dramatist and critic.

The inaugural session started with the welcome address by Sh K Sreenivasarao, Secretary Sahitya Akadimi, highlighting the milestones in the literary journey of Rahbar and his role as a creator of positive thinking in society. The session was chaired by eminent Kashmiri critic and scholar Mohammad Zaman Azurdha and the inaugural address was delivered by Ghulam Nabi Aatash, Convener, Kashmiri Advisory Board Guest of honour of the sitting Dr. Roop Krishan Bhat, a renowned writer, and the session was moderated by Anupam Tiwari, Editor, Sahitya Akademi.

The papers, presented in the first session by eminent writer scholar,Gauri Shankar Raina and Aejaz Mohammad Sheikh, emphasised the distinct dramatic writings and metaphorical short stories of Autar Krishan Rahbar. The session was chaired by Mohammad Amin Bhat, President Adbi Markaz Kamraz.

The second session, which started with the paper of Omkar Nath Shabnam, focused on the innovative style of the writer and his role as a responsible broadcaster. Gulzar Ahmad Rather spoke about the critical writings of Rahbar and his great contribution as the writer of 'History of Kashmir'. The last paper was presented by Shabnam Tilgami on the overall contribution of Rahbar to Kashmiri language and literature.

The conference, organised by Sahitya Akademi, concluded with an interactive session with the audience. Most of the participants narrated their narratives and anecdotes, particularly the family members of the writer, who were specially invited.
