Brooding

Brooding

Brooding

विजय साकी Vijay Saqi

Alphabets have got eroded,

meaning is truant from word,

how shall we invoke

the muse of poetry?

The darkness of yore

lurks in hide-and-seek

Let the lamp blink its last flicker

Put it then out

The other day

didn't I drink hemlock?

It is I who explored

the innermost womb of the sea.

But I lost my name

as I went on flaunting new colours,

changing appearances

The Waters

turned into a mass of stone.

How do I satiate my thirst,

try to drink the stone?

I end up with a smashed face

bleeding at ever pore

its expression

like a cyclone in chains.

Think about the mathematics

of life plus death,

think

That babe which just died

Was it ever born?

And what have you got on way?

Moving on you still have to move on

Vain our attempts

to be born in life

and to be dead in death.

And yet we move on,

still we hold on
