Poems  from Young and Old - "The Uncoming Death?'

Arvind Kaul

Death? In what it means

Is an eternal sleep

Not abstract but palpable,

But still are there ones,

Waiting for the

'eternal sleep',

But for their luck, the

Uncoming death?

Starvation is not leaving them,

Nakedness is still their possession,

Dreams are still their lost chums,

But for their luck,

Waiting for the

'eternal sleep',

But still are they,

the uncoming death?

'Pathos', but let me, you, and everyone pray,

Not for their lives,

But for their luck,

Yes the uncoming death,

Let it come and relieve them

of their pains,

For as long as they are living.

they will never be in gain.
