Jewels from Kashmiri Literature
Vedas have come to us by Word of mouth un- interrupted and unchanged. Whenever a Guru taught vedas to his disciples, they would say. "Shrutam me Gopaya"-I have heard it and it shall be kept a secret. Now read what Ahmad Rah has to say.
"My Preceptor told me the secret and secret must be kept. It should not be conveyed. Only then can you see Him.
"What you know should not be revealed.
Go inwards slowly see Him within yourself.
You and He share the same place.
Truth was placed in the open. By the great
Sheikh Mansoor And stoned he was
mercilessly. But he has had His glimpse.
"O Ye! Put him to test, The master,
Ahmed Rah in communion at Harmukh he is. He has
had His glimpse.
Now let us see if Samad Mir reveals any secret when he says-
"Wherefrom has the word originated
Who knows the route to that spot.
When I reached there I was bewildered.
What does it mean, what does it mean?
Toil you may, but realise
That time you cannot change,
Even a word cannot be altered from your luck
Nobody could change my destiny
What does it mean?
O Ye! exalted Person
You have done meditation and penance
this Samad Mir is your fellow traveller
who has found thousands of Worlds
Hidden in the bag hanging from your shoulder
What does it mean?
Please tell me.
