Poems from Young and Old - The Emerging Light

P N Munshi

With misty eyes, I look for the snow capped heights of yore

The land bathed in mild sun-shine,

The sparkling waters below the majestic pines.

The deep quiet in the land divine!

Ineffable peace in environs serene

Joyous minds reigning supreme

Infinite calm was so close

Indeed it was a heavenly abode!

The devil was, however, stalking in shade

The minds confined were feeding on hate

Charlatans were engaged in un-ending chase

The storm was gathering at a rapid pace.

The hovering clouds looming large

Everything now is engulfed in dark

The light does not remain eclipsed for long.

Our lives, however, we cannot prolong
