Hazardous Substances  Cause of Canine Cancer

The recent research on environment, found Thethat exposure to certain lawn care products, such as the commonly visible herbicide like 2,4- dichloride phenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D for short), increases the common dogs' chances of developing canine malignant lymphoma (CML) by 70 percent. When ingested repeatedly, 2-4-D acts as an endocrine disruptor, mutating a dog's white blood cell count, allowing malignant tumor cells to replicate unchecked. While worrisome for dogs and those of us who love them, the implications for common people are not good either, given the similarities between CML in canines and Hodgkin's lymphoma in humans. In another journal, 'Science of the Total Environment', it was found that exposure to herbicide-treated lawns has been associated with significantly higher bladder cancer risk in dogs. Certain breeds of dogs (beagles, terriers, sheep dogs etc.) are at greater risk. A strong justification for recent research may be that dogs may serve as sentinels for potentially harmful environmental exposures in humans, report the researchers behind the bladder cancer study. Meanwhile, what can we do to help prevent more dogs and humans from getting sick. For starters, they need to avoid using lawn care chemicals around their homes. Nevertheless, if we hire someone else to take care of our yard, we need to make sure that they are not using 2-4-D, glyphosate or any other potentially hazardous pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers. Replacing your lawn with adapted native plants that don't need fertilizers or pesticides to thrive, is another way to protect our pets, dogs, cats from harmful chemicals while saving ourselves the trouble of having to mow the lawn physically. If we can't live without a grassy lawn and can't bear to let it go wild, one can opt for all natural, organic inputs. For instance, organic compost distributed across our lawn with a shovel in a thin layer can do better at nourishing our grass as fertilizers. For weed control a natural alternative 'roundup' is Burnout which uses the power of vinegar and clove oil to eradicate unwanted plants. As for protecting our dog while out on a walk, one need to be clear of private lawns with the required leash to keep it out of the neighbor's yards. Now the rules allow dogs to get unleashed in such parks that use no harmful chemicals. To ensure such safety to one's pets, one has to ensure before entering that the caretaker of the park has gone by the rules on pesticides etc. For safety purposes of the pets and parking users, one can use a gallon of vinegar, one cup salt and tablespoon of dish soap as protective ingredients. Health benefits of Pet's bacteria: Dogs harbor more than 600 different bacteria in their mouths alone, making every lick and slobber a potential health risk. Just like humans, pets have a micro biome - communities of bacteria, fungi, and viruses - not only in their mouths, but also on their skin and in their stool. Nearly 45 percent of U.S. households have a dog, and 25 percent have a cat, according the American Veterinary Medical Association.
