Pay Homage To Martyrs Digitally Now

Date:- 04 Jun 2018

In order to make it easier for citizens to pay homage to martyrs even from geographically distant locations, the Centre has planned to upgrade and add new features to the “Bharat Ke Veer” mobile app, including “pushp varsha”, to the departed soldiers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to introduce offering digital homage on “Bharat ke Veer” and promote it aggressively.

Sources said the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has also directed that a record of visitors utilising this facility should be maintained. The development will make it convenient for those who cannot afford to visit war memorials but are ready to pay highest respect to the martyrs. After digital transactions, this is the Modi Government’s second major digital push.

“There are 120 war memorials across the country where people visit occasionally to pay homage to those who lost their lives for the country. Traditionally, the Prime Minister and other VIPs, including armed forces chiefs, visit the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate every year, to pay homage to the martyrs. If the system is developed, this will attract more people to visit the site virtually and pay homage,” said sources.

Digital shradhanjali provides space to create a digital profile of a martyr listing their details, achievement, family members, photos, et al.

Using this app, individuals can also contribute directly into the bank accounts of the bravehearts’ kin or to the “Bharat Ke Veer” corpus.

After Uri attack in which 18 soldiers were killed and 30 injured, the Indian Army has allowed everyone willing to participate in the ceremony to pay homage to the martyrs. Through the official website of the Army, people offered homage by just filling up a form.

The address will be used to send you an acknowledgment for paying tribute.
