1 Jawan Martyred, 3 Hurt In Separate Terror Attacks In Kashmir

An Army jawan and a civilian driver were killed and three other Army personnel including an officer were injured in two separate terrorism related incidents in south Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts on Monday.

An Army jawan was grievously injured during brief exchange of fire between terrorists and the Army personnel in south Kashmir’s Kakapora area of Pulwama district late last night. Later he succumbed to injuries in the Army’s base Hospital in Srinagar.

Reports said a civilian cab driver and an Army man sustained grievous injuries after unknown terrorists attacked local Army camp by firing indiscriminately towards the Camp leading to critical injuries to one Army personnel around 10 p.m. on Sunday.

The driver critically injured after suffering a bullet injury in his head, following which he was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The civilian was identified as Bilal Ahmad Ganie of Kakpora Pulwama.

A civilian passenger vehicle of Tata Sumo make has also been recovered from the spot and is suspected to be used by the terrorists who managed to escape after attacking the Army Camp in the area.

Security sources said that terrorists attacked 50 Rashtriya Rifles Camp from Railway Line side in Kakapora. This triggered intense response from the Army personnel and the heavy exchange of fire lasted about ten minutes.

Local sources informed that the Tata Sumo civilian driver was alone at the time of sudden attack on Army Camp.

They said in view of Ramadan’s late night prayers the people remain out till late hours. However, security sources said the driver was killed most likely in the cross fire.
