India To Attend Sco Meet In Pak On Countering Terror

Date:- 23 May 2018

Pakistan Foreign Office on Tuesday said that India will be sending its delegation to Islamabad to participate in the anti-terrorism conference under the banner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) from May 23-25.

In a statement, the Pakistani Foreign Office Spokesperson said that legal experts from the eight member States — China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan — as well as representatives of the SCO — Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) Executive Committee will participate in the meeting. The legal experts will discuss terrorist threats facing the region and ways and means to enhance counter terrorism cooperation between SCO member States.

"Pakistan is hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization-Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (SCO-RATS) Legal Experts meeting from 23-25 May 2018 in Islamabad. This is the first ever SCO meeting being held in Pakistan since becoming member of SCO in June 2017. The Government of Pakistan is pleased to welcome delegations from SCO member states to Islamabad…Pakistan supports SCO's efforts for regional cooperation in fighting terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime. We are ready to share our experiences in tackling the menace of terrorism through the SCO-RATS," Pak spokesperson said.

Though the Indian side is yet to make any official statement in this regard, it is believed that given India's commitment to the SCO grouping, Indian Legal Experts should have no issues to travel to Islamabad.
