Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said Pakistan had no locus standi on Kashmir, asking Pakistan: “When was Kashmir your part?” On his first visit to Ladakh after the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories on August 5, Rajnath said, “Kashmir has been ours, there has never been any doubt on that.”

He was briefed on the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan and the Chinese activities along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The Defence Minister was in Leh to attend a function organised by the Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), a constituent laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). “We respect the existence of Pakistan, but reject its rhetoric on Kashmir. It should focus on human rights violations in PoK," he remarked.
