A gunfight erupted between security forces and militants in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday morning, officials said.

Upon receiving a tip-off, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

As the security forces closed in on the hiding militants, they opened fire, triggering a gunfight, the officials said.
