Kashmir terrorists’ Pak wives demand sops; WP Refugees denied rations

Date:- 04 Feb 2019

Carrying placards “Hum Pakistani Hain”, protesting Pakistani wives of Kashmiri terrorists, who intruded into India along with good number of children, made specific demands in full gaze of media cameras near Srinagar Press Enclave, which inter-allia included valid documents pertaining to citizenship, passports, identity cards and above all, Permanent Resident or State Subject Certificates. The vocal among the Pakistani women, Asiya Hassan Baba dared those calling them illegal intruders and said, “We have been duly invited; we were told Tashreef Layeen”. Who made such a passionate and affectionate appeal to the wives of terrorists, who had taken up arms to fight Indian State? She claimed that it is the duty of the State Government and the Centre to take call on their concerns. The video of the protests has already gone viral on social media.
This can only happen in India and its pampered State of Jammu and Kashmir, where estimated 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh refugees, who migrated during horrendous 1947 Partition from Sialkot to the State, are languishing and awaiting citizenship rights. Their sin is to be peaceful Hindus, who have made India their home, after being hounded out brutally by Jihadi nation of Pakistan. Ironically, these West Pakistan Refugees were denied subsidised rations under the National Food Safety Act by Mehbooba Mufti led government in November 2017. The incident surfaced on November 17, 2017 when names of nearly 60 refugee families living in Uttam Colony on the outskirts of Jammu city had reportedly been deleted from the ration card beneficiaries’ list issued by the then Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department.
“We have been told bluntly by the authorities that from this month (November 2017) our names have been deleted from beneficiaries’ lists as refugee families do not have Permanent Resident Certificates”, a WPR leader had told the media.
While the Kashmir mainstream and even separatists have all along been espousing the cause of terrorists, describing them as ‘misguided youth’, the West Pakistan Refugees are continuously getting cold shoulder. Now the Pakistani wives of Kashmiri terrorists are going to add a new dimension to the already sordid affair. There is a reason for that too. A top separatist leader and a mainstream leader too have wives from Pakistan.
In such a scenario who is going to protect the interests of West Pakistan Refugees.
Remember how Congress showed its political bankruptcy and insensitivity by deputing Spokesperson Meem Afzal to Kashmir on December 30, 2016 to articulate on Article-370 in order to oppose domicile certificates to West Pakistan Refugees. The Congress representative visited the Valley the day separatists had issued a two-day shut down call against issuance of ‘identity certificates’ to the West Pakistan Refugees. On the contrary, the Congress drawing its sustenance mainly from the Jammu region never showed any remorse on pampering Muslim Rohingyas in Jammu because it served their vote-bank politics well.
The tirade against identity certificates to WP Refugees had overtly and covertly masterminded by the Kashmir centric mainstream parties, who have been sharing power in rotation, in a bid to cause miseries to the already deprived segment of the Jammu society. The Kashmir centric leaders and secessionists had no moral grand-standing to question the prerogative of the government, as they themselves are confused over being Indian nationals. They are the lot who openly question the accession with some terming it temporary and some clamouring for the implementation 0f UN Resolution that has since lost relevance.
Unfortunately, the role of the BJP too remained questionable in diluting the identity certificates issue for WPRs. While in the government with PDP, they made U-turn by dispensing domicile certificates with identity certificates, despite stated pronouncements by its Pradesh Chief then that domicile certificates would be beginning of the process of covering the WP Refugees under State Subject Laws. However, while in power corridors, they did not speak a word, at least in the public domain against Kashmir centric coalition partner’s anti-WPR move.
The voices being raised by the Pakistani wives of Kashmiri terrorists and continued miserable plight of West Pakistan Refugees should serve as eye opener for the people of Jammu and Ladakh about the developments taking place across the State. The nationalist forces will have to rise against sinister moves of Kashmir centric governments and assert in foiling all attempts of placating stone pelters, terrorists and separatists in the mistaken belief of winning over the hearts and minds of the people.
