A seven-member delegation of the Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) on Wednesday called upon Farooq Ahmed Shah, Secretary, Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation. The delegation was led by Gurdev Singh, president, JKSAC.

Suraj Parkash, Additional Secretary, was also present at the meeting.

Shah was apprised in detail of the issues concerning the one-time settlement of the displaced people of 1947 from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The delegation demanded compensation for the left-out properties, reservation for their children in jobs and educational institutions, utilisation of Rs 2,000 crore year-marked for allotment of plots to the remaining families.

Shah was told that over 6,000 beneficiaries had not been provided relief.

The refugee leaders said the Ministry of Home Affairs must release the funds to save the poor beneficiaries from exploitation by vested elements.

During the meeting, Farooq Shah’s attention was drawn towards issues such as attestation of unattested Form-A of displaced persons who had no other records.

The other members of delegation were Netar Parkash, Tarlok Singh Tara, Roshan Malhotra, Roshan Lal, Avinash Singh and Master Yog Raj.
