Have a range of options for Pak misadventures: Army

Date:- 11 Jan 2019

The Army on Thursday said that in addition to the surgical strikes, it had a range of options available to take on Pakistan in case of “any misadventure”.

Northern Command chief Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, who had announced the September 2016 surgical strikes in Pakistan, said the Pakistan army had been violating the ceasefire to help the infiltrators to cross the Line of Control.

“It is to the credit of all troops deployed on the LoC that we have been able to keep the enemy under tremendous pressure. While they might initiate a small action to support the infiltrators, they are given deterrent punishment so that they avoid such misadventure in future. However it has carried on,” Lt General Singh said on the sidelines of a winter youth festival at Gulmarg in north Kashmir.

When asked about the need for another surgical strike as the ceasefire violations were continuing, the Northern Command chief said they had a range of options available. “Depending on the situation and depending on what is the effect that we desire, we decide whatever option has to be exercised,” he said. — TNS
