KAS qualifiers protest ‘smear’ campaign

Date:- 08 Jan 2019

Candidates who have qualified the KAS (Mains) exam again took out a rally on Monday to lodge their protest against the “false narrative being created by unsuccessful candidates to malign their image”.

Scores of qualified candidates assembled outside the University of Jammu (JU) and took out a march till Exhibition Ground, urging the state administration to expedite the legal process to vacate the court stay and ensure completion of the interview process.

“It was a well-planned conspiracy to launch a malicious campaign against the qualified candidates. On December 4, the results of the KAS (Mains) exam were declared and within hours, they (unsuccessful candidates) started a campaign of digital error and scam, tarnishing our image and calling us blue-eyed candidates. They are raising a question on the system of which they want to be a part,” the protesters said

The protesting candidates alleged that they were being “mentally harassed” through “unfounded and baseless allegations”.

On December 26 last year, the candidates had taken out a candlelight march from the JU campus to Raj Bhawan to express their resentment against the ongoing “propaganda” allegedly launched by unsuccessful candidates.

The protesting candidates asked them to produce evidence in support of their allegations that they had given “bribe to qualify the exam”.

On December 21, the J&K High Court had stayed the selection process of the KAS examination, 2016, till the next date of hearing in a case filed by a group of “aggrieved” candidates.

Of the 6,427 candidates, who had appeared in the examination, 963 were declared to have qualified for the personality test and viva voce.
