Democratic institutions in danger under BJP rule: Mir

Date:- 02 Jan 2019

Alleging that every democratic institution of the country ‘was in danger under the BJP rule’, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president GA Mir on Tuesday said it was the duty of the people to save these.

Mir said this at a daylong convention of the party workers at Verinag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

He said the ‘wrong policies adopted by the Centre will continue to remain the source behind the deep alienation among the people of J&K’ and that the state had suffered immensely due to the ‘unnatural alliance between the PDP and the BJP’

“The PDP-BJP coalition presided over the darkest era of the state even as they failed to address the local issues concerning people on the ground...they have dismayed people, as a result there is great resentment against the PDP-BJP,” said Mir while asking the people to rise to the occasion ‘to defeat these opportunist parties’ in the forthcoming parliamentary and Assembly elections.

Addressing the meeting, All India Congress Committee secretary and J&K in charge Shakeel Ahmad Khan said the party would do its best to address the concerns of the people.
