Dear Community Members

Namaskar!

Hope you all are doing well by the grace of the Almighty. By the time you 1 receive this December edition of Koshur Samachar, our community will have passed one more year of exile in its own country-painful exile from our land of birth, hearth and home, our abode of more than five thousand years. It will enter into  the annals of history as a scar for those who claim to be upholding the cherished ideals of Democracy, Equality, Freedom and Fraternity, those who claim to be guardians of the human rights of different human societies, ethnic and religious groups in the world, we face their insensitive and unpardonable neglect towards our community, in the continuous 34th year of our exile from home, at the hands of the Islamic Jihadis.

Today, I am bound to open my heart to you on some important issues which concern our organisation in general and our hounded community in particular.

You all know that our community has been under continuous duress even much before the mass exodus from Kashmir in January 1990. Since 1952, our community members have been leaving Kashmir due to the suppressive regimes, denying us the space to exist. Our brothers and sisters are often left in search of livelihood and a life of honour and dignity. These people had extended their helping hand to us in different cities wherever they had formed their small niche and created Kashmiri societies. In Delhi, this organisation- Kashmir Samiti Delhi, looked after us, taking our care and making our survival possible by extending their help in getting all our problems sorted out with different governments and government agencies through their competent leadership qualities and knowledge of administrative norms. They made good strides and crafted their careers.

At their feet, we, the present caretakers and servants of our community, learned a lot which came to us through a smooth work culture. We thank them all for their immense hard work, dedication and selfless services to our community in days of real distress.

I feel personally obliged and grateful. got my reprieve from this organisation when I thought everything was lost and we could never be the same people again. The feeling of gratitude and a sense of duty made me dedicate my entire time to this noble organisation's welfare and my community's service. This sense of responsibility has been one inspiring source behind the little we could do in these years.

I was given the responsibility of serving as President by my community in 2019. I sincerely thank all my community members for reposing this trust in me, and accordingly, I have tried my best to meet the expectations of my aspiring community members.

I am very fortunate to be a member of such a great team with the support of one of the most senior members, Dr L N Dhar, Sh. Vijay Raina, both former Presidents, Vice Presidents Sh. Sanjay Kaul and Sh. Vijay Bhat and my entire honest and dedicated team. Without their help and support, I could have hardly accomplished any task. I am fortunate that I was given the opportunity to lead. my team since 2019 to serve our community/organisation (KSD), which is no less than a temple of God for us.

As it is already known, one of the cherished dreams of our community organisation is to rebuild the Kashmir Bhavan Building. So, this came as a big challenge to be fulfilled.

Since the day I was General Secretary of this organisation, the issue would figure almost in each meeting, discussion and debate. Still, it kept eluding us for a long time because of certain unseen reasons. One of the biggest reasons was Covid19, which had paralysed the entire system. Even after coming out of the pandemic, it was never a simple walk, but a tightrope walk. We had to get clearance from almost every department to construct our dream Bhavan. You know the organisation has been relishing this dream since 1975. Now, it will come true by the good grace of Lord Shiva and your blessings.

I must congratulate you all on this. It is one such occasion to celebrate our long- cherished dream of erecting a Kashmir Bhavan in the heart of the Capital City of Delhi, which will soon become a reality.

Last but not least, on the 25th of December, let us put our hands together to pledge ourselves in the unconditional service of our community members and our country Bharat Mata and rededicate ourselves to the greater cause of our community and nation-building.
