AIKS Civil Writ Petition in Supreme Court- AIKS held a meeting of community thinkers at J. N. Kaul Memorial Hall, KECSS, B- 36, Pamposh Enclave, New Delhi on 12th September, 2015 where current status of the information sought by HonHe Supreme Court came up for discussions. Several meaningful ideas were exchanged and it was resolved to maximise efforts to collect me desired information related to distress sale of properties particularly those sold after promulgation of J&K Migrant Immovable Property (Preservanon, Protection and Restraint on Distress Sale) Act 1997.

It was also agreed to hold an in-depth discussion with our attorney Shri T. K Ganjoo, based on the fresh information received from community members so that a proper reply can be submitted to Supreme Court at the time of next hearing on 30th October 2015.

Those who attended the meeting included Sarvashri Vijay Aima, M. K. Kaw, M. L Malla, Col Tej K Tikoo, A N Kaul Sahib, M K Pajan, H L Wangnoo, Sanjay Ganjoo, Dr. Romesh Raina, R K KauL G J Kampassi, Dr R K Tikoo, Arun Shalia and A. K. Bhat.

2. Review of AIKS Constitution - Shri M. K. Kaw, IAS Retd., Past President of AIKS, has expanded the membership of the committee formed under his leadership to review the AIKS constitution and inducted Sarvashri Moti Lai Malla, Prof. B. B. Dhar, A. N. Kaul Sahib, Maharaj K. Pajan, Dr. Romesh Raina, and Arun Shalia as its members.

All affiliate organisations and other members have been approached to forward their suggestions for proposed changes, with reasons, to AIKS office. We are awaiting the inputs of members which will help the committee to consider them.

Considering the importance of undertaking a comprehensive review or the existing constitution, all interested members are once again requested to submit their suggestions at the earliest.

3. AIKS Website - The revamped website of AIKS (aiks.org) is now fully operational and several new features are being added. It is expected that the website will become a useful communication platform for the community and help in reflecting the collective aspirations of all sections of the community

AIKS Core Committee Meeting - A Core Committee Meeting of AIKS was held on 20th September 2015 to take stock of current affairs and plan for events to be held in the near future.

The meeting was attended by Sarvashri Vijay Aima, Shri A. N. KaulSahib, M. L. Malla, CoL Tej K. Tikoo, M. K. Pajan, besides other members.

It was decided to hold the next Executive Committee meeting of AIKS at Jammu so that such meetings are held across locations by rotation. The said Executive Committee meeting will be hosted by KP Sabha Jammu on 21st November 2015.

It was also decided to hold a Seminar at Jammu, where a large number of our community members live, to remind ourselves of the painful turn of events when we were forced to leave our homes and hearts on the intervening night of January 19 and 20 leading to mass displacement. Thereafter this year the AIKS proposes to assemble at Jammu sometime in mid-January 2016 to recollect the horrifying events leading to our forced exile, the present status and how to organise a mass awareness campaign.

Like last year, the core committee also decided to hold a Seminar at Delhi to celebrate the International Mother Tongue Day falling on 21st February 2016, so that we encourage tne promotion and use of Kashmiri language, as our mother tongue particularly among our younger generations.

Shakti Nagar Project: The Joint Management Committee comprising of Sarvashri Vijay Aima, H L Wangnoo, M L Malla, Arun Shalia, Rajender Ganjoo and M K Pajan for this important project met at AIKS office on 26 September 2015 ana reiterated the need for early start of activities related to the project. Members expressed their keen desire to work towards concrete progress at the ground level.

The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere and it was decided to appoint an architect who will undertake preparation or plan drawings and related documentation for approval of appropriate authorities.

The voluntary offer made by an architect to undertake the work free of cost for community welfare was also discussed and accepted in principle.

 

6. Events held at Jagti: Two events were held at Jagati Township, the first was Career Development workshop for students on 11th September 2015 where Shri Raj Nehru delivered a lecture. The second was Sport Tournament on 12th September 2015 for the youth, which was a memorable sports event.
