ASKPC Observed Black Days

AII State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) observed 14th 22nd October, 2009 as black days as during this period Pak invaders attacked Jammu and Kashmir from border lines in 1947 to annex the State and killed countless innocent non-muslim people at various places near border areas like Baramulla, Kupwara, Sopore. Handwara, Chanerhama, Ganderbal, etc. in Kashmir Rajouri, Poonch, Mendhar etc. in Jammu region and Gilgit Askardoo etc in Ladakh Division. Besides a meeting in this behalf was convened by the ASKPC under the leadership of its President Sh. A. N. Vaishnavi. All the participants of the meeting observed 2-minute silence in memory of those who gave life scarifies in this Pak attack for the cause of the county. Addressing the meeting Sh. Vaishnavi stressed for observing the said period as black days every year. He also paid rich tributes to Brig. Rajinder Singh who while fighting Pak invaders laid down his life at Baramulla.

Speaking in the meeting Sh. H. L. Chatta, Genl. Secy. of the organization recalled the heart rendering scenes which were apprized the people that several times Pakistan tried to annex J&K State but never succeed in its design because of timely reply of Indian forces.

He said that Pakistan succeeded in occupying a small portion of the State like Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Gilgit, etc where forced to embrace Islam, and since then this small portion is called as POK (Pakistan Occupies Kashmir).

Sh. R. K. Raina, Sr. Vice President of the organization said that KPs have always become the victims under the hands of fundamentalists forces in the valley and as such there should not be adhocism for their return. Instead the Government should provide jobs to unemployed youths of the community and settle the community at one place with free flow of Indian Constitution.

Other organizations in Delhi including Delhi unit ASKPC also observed the period as black day. wearing black traditional dress (Pheran) with cap and badges.

Besides Kashmiri Political groups in UK under the umbrella of Kashmiri National Party passed resolution against Pakistan's tribal invasion into India in October 1947.
