Celebration of Infantry Day

Kashmiri Pandit Organizations celebrated infantry day on 27.10.2009. 62d Anniversary of accession of Jammu & Kashmir. The function was participated by a large number of people.

The function was organized by ASPKC under the leadership of its President Sh. A. No. Vaishnavi who apprised the participants that on this day in 1947 the then ruler of Jammu & Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh made instrument accession of the J&K with Union of India, which was accepted by then Governor General of India, Lord Mount Batten and as such the State became an integral part of India. The accession, he said, was also acceptable to the people of Jammu & Kashmir to which they gave their willingness under the leadership of Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who soon after accession took over the State from Maharaja Hari Singh as its fresh Ruler.

Sh. H. L. Chatta, Gen. Secy. of the organization recalled heart rendering scenes of 1947 when Pakistan tried to annex Jammu & Kashmir forcibly by sending tribes (Kabalies) with Pak Army from border areas of the state in Oct. 1947 made countless killings of non-Muslims, looted / gutted their houses in Baramulla, Kupwara, Handwara. Poonch, Rajouri and other border areas of the state. He thanked then Indian Army who safeguard the state and as well as lives of its people, from further disaster and pushed back Pak forces to their own territory. Continuing his speech, he said, Pakistan however succeeded in occupy a small part of the state which is presently called as POK (Pak occupied Kashmir). He demanded Government of India should also get this portion of the state free from Pakistan and made its accession to with India so that the Jammu & Kashmir may again become a big state as it was before 1947.

Sh. Rakesh Tickoo, President Youth Wing of the organization also spoke in the meeting and demanded for getting released other areas which Pakistan gave to China soon after existence of POK. He also stressed for implementation of demands made by the ASKPC and put before the Revenue & Rehabilitation Minister in the Apex Committee meeting held recently.
