Return Package ill Conceived- ASKPC

Martand Correspondent

New Delhi - In a meeting Delhi unit of All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), while reacting over the claim of J&K State Government about willingness of migrant KP families to return to their homes in the valley The leaders of the unit warned the Govt. that any attempt to encourage displaced KPs to return to Kashmir Valley, under present circumstances, on the motivation and attraction of Prime Minister's "Lollipop Return Formula" would be another displacement fora KPs which could prove harmful and counter-productive for both KPs as well as the governments at the State and the Centre.

Speaking in the meeting the Sr. Leaders of the unit Kundan Kashmiri, B. L. Thusoo and others, stated that Prime Minister's return package has no relevance in absence of political and security package which include consolidated resettlement of all displaced KPs in the Valley with free flow of Indian Constitution.

There are solid reasons and difficulties for KPs to return to Kashmir under present circumstances mind that KPs have not left their comfortable homes and hearths and so on for the petty benefits of the said package and other financial gains.

The meeting also decided to send a team of ASKPC to Jammu under the leadership of Kundan Kashmiri to visit the camps to discuss the demands and problems with camp leaders which would be later on taken up with Prime Minister, and other authorities at Delhi for Redressal.

In the meeting the leaders also demanded passing of resolution of Kashyap Homeland in 64 for over 7 Lakh KPs who are leading exiled life, as has been done for 3 districts of Chenab Valley

Speaking in the meeting General Secy. Of the unit stated that resolution passed by Vice vote in J&K legislative council for establishment of Hill Development Council for 3 districts of Chenab Valley, should also follow another resolution for 7 Lakh KPs to make the development and safety of the community. Besides the leadership of the unit demanded that State Govt. Should allot separate funds for the development and upliftment of most suffered "KP Community" residing in and outside Jammu. The unit also extended its full support to KP Dharm at Mishriwalla & Purkhoo Camps, Jammu. Those who were present in the meeting include R. L. Raina, M. K. Ganjoo, V. K. Lidoo, etc.
