DIAT's Convocation:  Honourable Raksha Mantri Awards Degrees and Medals to Exceptional Students and Defence Officers.

The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (Deemed University), DRDO Pune, convocation occurred on 15th May 2023 under the esteemed presence of Shri Rajnath Singh the Honourable Raksha Mantri During the ceremony, degrees and gold medals were conferred upon accomplished civilian students and defence officers DIAT, an Institute of national importance, specialises in conducting advanced research in defence-related domains and provides postgraduate and doctoral programs to its students.

Notably, the KP community takes great pride in celebrating the recognition bestowed upon two exceptional Indian Air Force officers of Jammu and Kashmir and president of the for their remarkable contributions to Defense Technology Management Group Captain Ashok Raina was awarded an M Tech in Technology Management. At the same time Group Captain Kuldeep Tikoo received a gold medal for securing the first position in the university, in M Tech degree and the prestigious Kulkarni award for academic excellence.

Thousands of Kashmiri Pandits Undertook Annual Pilgrimage Amidst Security Concerns

Amid mounting security concerns thousands of migrant Pandits undertook their annual pilgrimage to the revered Mata Kheer Bhawan temple in Ganderbal and other shrines in the Kashmir Valley The pilgrimage, which coincides with Jyeshtha Ashtami, has experienced a decline in attendance in recent years due to increased militant attacks targeting Kashmiri Pandits.

On Friday, a ceremonial flag-off marked the departure of 125 buses carrying Kashmiri Pandits to the Kheer Bhawani Mela. The fleet consisted of 95 buses heading to Tulmulla Ganderbal 23 buses to Tikker. Kupwara, three buses to Manzgam. Mehbooba Mufti, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and kashmir and president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) extended a warm welcome to the Kashmiri Pandits and described the annual festival as a symbol of unity and peaceful coexistence between Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Muslims, transcending religious boundaries and fostering communal harmony. She emphasised that the festival epitomises the syncretic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir, where people from diverse backgrounds coexist harmoniously, united by their shared love for the land.

On the other side, The Jammu and Kashmir administration also made special arrangements to ensure the convenience of the Kashmiri Pandits during the pilgrimage. A government spokesman stated that approximately 50,000 pilgrims are expected to visit the Kheer Bhawani temple and other regional places this year Deputy Commissioner S.F. Hami anticipated at least 10,000 pilgrims in the Anantnag district alone.

Grand Celebration of Zyetha Aetham Festival by Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora in Texas, USA

TEXAS (US), May 29 The vibrant Zyetha Aetham festival was joyously commemorated by the Kashmiri Pandit diaspora residing in the United States Many Texas Kashmiri Pandit/ community devotees gathered in Houston to enthusiastically observe this ancient festival The event occurred at the Hindu Worship Society temple in Houston, where devotional bhajans filled the air alongside a traditional Yagnya/Homa ceremony.                                           Following the sacred Yagnya ritual, all the devotees were treated to a delectable and authentic Kashmiri satvik bhojan featuring the beloved dessert, Kheer This delightful feast enhanced the festive ambience and fostered a sense of unity among the participants.    Known as Jyeshtha Ashtami or Zyetha Aettham in Kashmiri, this festival holds al special place in the hearts of its celebrants. Dedicated to Mata Ragnya Bhagwati, it is observed annually at the revered Kheer at the shrine complex. Bhawani Temple in Tulmula, Kashmir. The festival falls on the eighth day of the bright half of the Jyeshta month in the Hindu Soli-lunar calendar.           The historical Kheer Bhawani Temple holds immense significance for the Kashmiri Pandit community, being one of the most revered Hindu temples. Legend has it that Mata Ragnya, a Vaishnav incarnation of the goddess Durga resides within its sacred precincts Furthermore, she is believed to be an incarnation of Mas Triporsundari, further magnifying the temple's spiritual importance.

Protest Erupts Over Insufficient Arrangements at Kheer Bhawani Mela

SRINAGAR, May 27 A group of Kashmiri Pandits staged a protest in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, expressing their discontent with the inadequate arrangements made by the administration for the pilgrims attending the annual Kheer Bhawani Mela.

The protesting Pandits expressed their disappointment. questioning why the government failed to make adequate arrangements despite being aware of their arrival "Upon our arrival yesterday evening, we noticed insufficient facilities for the pilgrims, and there was a lack of drinking water and proper accommodation. a Kashmiri Pandit who participated in the protest stated. Some protesters raised slogans of discontent directed at the authorities as well.

Responding to the situation, Shyambir, Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal, stated that the pilgrims had reached the Kheer Bhawani Mela the previous night and that "anti-social elements were spreading misinformation.

"We had made provisions for food and lodging, but due to adverse weather conditions, some tents suffered water leakage. We have held a meeting with all the pilgrims, and we are addressing their concerns with the assistance of volunteers, Shyambir informed reporters.

Several Kashmiri Pandit leaders, including Abhay Bakaya, the Apni Party youth wing general secretary, Kundan Kashmiri, the president of the Kashmiri Pandit Conference, and M.K. Yogi, the convener of the Aam Aadmi Party Migrant Cell, expressed serious concern over the difficulties faced by the pilgrims due to the lack of facilities at the holy shrine.
