1995 05 Editors Mail - Koshur Samachar

Rituals and Festivals by Prof P L Bakhshi

Dear Sir,

Editorial staff of 'Koshur Samachar' deserve all appreciation bringing about steady improvement in the overall quality of this prestigious periodical Over the years, it has grown from 'kiddy salangane' to 'kaleidoscopic Samsom'. I wish it both qualitative and quantitative improvement in future.

I would, however, like articles pertaining to our annual functions and rituals like Heyrath, Navreh, Pun, Khechi Maavas, Shishur, etc. to be included in the journal. It is the need of the day for this global travelling official organ of Kashmiri Samiti to educate the community about the importance and significance of these functions, and help us to maintain our magnificent culture. Yours

American Meddling in Kashmir by K.L. Moza

Dear Sir,

All kudos to Shri Dina Nath Raina for his article on the topic. He has related events correctly which is really appreciable. Shri Raina has not, however, said what are the American interests in this region. To my mind, their interests are Chitral, Bhunji and Gilgit, as also their desire to have an eye on China.... The present situation in Kashmir is the creation of USA.Yours,

Vivekananda in Kashmir by Archana Bhan

Dear Sir,

Hats off to the person who arranged the photograph showing 'Vivekananda in Kashmir' (KS:1/95). You have done a really good job in publishing the photograph which, in my opinion, will go a long way in enriching the cultural history of Kashmir. Yours,

Archana Bhan

(The photograph taken at the residence of late Pandit Anand Kaul Bamzai in down-town Srinagar during Swamiji's visit to Kashmir was given by his illustrious son, Pandit P.N. Kaul Bamzai, to the Ramkrishna Ashrama, many years back, and it was from the Ashrama archives that a copy was obtained for 'Koshur Samachar' through the good offices of our Editorial Consultant, Prof. Chaman Lal Sapru: Editor).
