Kashmir File Turns 75 Plus

September 28th 96 Saturday , 6:30 pm in the lush green lawns of Chelmsford Club at Raisina Road, New Delhi. It was a mela of media men, artists, poets, writers, film persons and people from many other walks of life. Occasion was the celebration of completion of 75 episodes of Kashmir File, at the outset, Pandit Arun Kaul, the producer of the serial, the popular weekly serial produced by Vyeth Television, introduced his team, the advisors, writers, cameramen, Directors, comperes, the singers, musicians et al. That the team is a well knit family was apparent from the shine of his eyes and the warmth of his words when Pandit Arun Kaul was introducing one after the other, his team members, be they Hindus or Muslims, Kashmiris or non- Kashmiris. The Collage 75 containing glimpses of the earlier episodes, was released by Professor Veer Vishweshwar, one of the Advisors and it was later screened. The College was a run down of the events of recent years in Kashmir, it was a picturisation of the great Kashmiri culture, it was an exposition of the spirit of Kashmir-the real Kashmiriyat. It was an expression of the feelings, the expectations and aspirations of the common man for whom the Mosque, the Temple, the Church and the Gurudwara are all places of worship and, therefore, held in reverence.

It was a glimpse of the great tradition of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh, the scenic beauty of the ranges of the mighty Himalaya, running brooks, chirping birds and blossoming flowers and the guiding spirit was the humanism propounded by Lal Ded, Nunda Rishi, other Sufis, Savants and Buddhist Monks There was also an under current of pain of the present turmoil with a silver lining of hope for the future. The approach in the serial from the beginning has been balanced objective, realistic and professional Photography, editing, mixing, narration, and music are superb and flawless. We salute the team for their dedication, commitment and hard work that go into the making of this excellent artistic serial.

The photographs that were put up on the occasion were a clear testimony to the serious research that is associated with the making of Kashmir File. These included rare Kashmiri Kalam Paintings and photographs of historical and antiquity value. A group photograph of a galaxy of artists, musicians, poets, writers, dramatists wherein are seen Mahjoor, Masterjee and Nadim, Prof Talib, Toshkhani and Raina, and most of other men of letters, was also displayed.

Glimpses of some other episodes were also shown on the screen which included picturisation of Nadim's immortal poem, "I will not sing today".

Copies of collage 75 were distributed and a sumptuous dinner was hosted. We only wish the invitees were served Kashmiri Kahwa and Kashmiri Wazawan.

We are proud of the Vyeth Television and Pandit Arun Kaul, production for this feast for the eyes, ears, intellect and heart. We wish them well and thousands of episodes in the service of our Motherland. May the flow of these episodes be unending like the ever flowing Vyeth-the Mother Vitasta

At the end let us join that magical voice, soft and loving Jasleen Vohra, who presents these episodes with great aplomb and say Addab, Namaste, Orzuv (and Jule too).
